Conway Daily Sun: Carriers, community get ready to host Wounded Warriors again this December2009/10/14
JACKSON — It's Columbus Day Weekend, when thoughts are traditionally about going to the fairs, picking apples and viewing the fall foliage — but for members of the Carrier family, October means that they'll soon know the names of the two or three military families from the Wounded Warrior Project who will visit Mount Washington Valley this December for the second annual Christmas Can Cure festivities.
"We hosted two families last December, which was wonderful. This year we'll know from the Wounded Warrior Project people whether we'll be hosting two or three families by Oct. 15," said Dr. Gerry Carrier, the Carrier family patriarch, whose family came up with the idea of the Christmas Can Cure effort last holiday season as a way to give back to service people and their families.
He said this year, several businesses and families come forward to help.
